Located in beautiful Aubrey, Texas - in the heart of horse country...
S&W is a well-maintained, state of the art, clean medical and surgical facility located on 25 acres adjacent to the S&W Quarter Horses property in Aubrey, Texas. Our facility has 5 barns, all extremely clean with hourly stall checks, automatic waterers, heat, and air conditioning standard. We have specialized 24x24 stallion stalls, 26x28 foaling stalls with paddocks, quarantine barns, surgical post-op and recovery facilities. Our modern laboratory also offers hematology, blood gases, serology, serum chemistry, bacteriology, mycology, cytology, parasitology, endocrinology, and Coggins testing in addition to genetic analysis and validation, color testing, and hereditary diseases (HERDA, HYPP) testing. For major surgeries, we constructed a special facility suited specifically for large animal surgical procedures including stall slings, recovery stalls, anesthesia operating rooms, and viewing booths. The S&W breeding barn is customized to allow efficient embryo collection and transfer, semen collection and cooling, as well as rooms for live cover breedings. S&W also manages one 20-stall breeding barn for broodmares and additional paddocks and pastures for their foals.
Our diagnostic imaging facilities are also top-of-the-line, with technology available for radiography, ultrasound, MRIs, and endoscopy. The S&W treatment center is used for dentistry, farrier work, routine check-ups, vaccinations and injections, and minor surgeries. It is located neighboring the recovery and rehabilitation building, located in front of an exercise track, water therapy treadmill, and exercise arenas. The barns are bio-secure and completely sanitary, with horse waste moved from the facility grounds daily. All horses must undergo contagious disease testing or quarantine before long term stays at the S&W facilities. The grounds feature concrete flooring cleaned and disinfected several times daily, pine shavings bedding, open-screened, spacious stalls, and dry lot paddocks as well as multiple green 5 acre pastures.
Our facility will be opening for stallions and breeding mares starting October 2009 in preparation for the 2010 breeding season. We have also recently acquired new recipient mares for clients who would like to breed their mare while she is still actively competing.
